What is The Way of Zen?
Zen is not a theory, an idea, or a piece of knowledge. It is not a belief, dogma, or religion; but rather, it is a practical experience. We cannot intellectually grasp Zen because human intelligence and wisdom are too limited. The dojo (the hall where Zazen is practiced) is different from a school. Zazen is an attitude of spiritual awakening, which when practiced, can become the source from which all the actions of daily life flow. Eating, sleeping, breathing, walking, working, talking, thinking, and so on. Zen is, first and foremost, a practice that was uninterruptedly transmitted from master to disciple, and that goes back to the spiritual enlightenment of The Buddha, over 2500 years ago in India.
About Raja Yoga
Raja Yoga, sometimes called the “Royal Yoga” is inclusive of all yogas, and its philosophy goes beyond the boundaries of the many styles of yoga today. Raja Yoga emphasizes the benefits of meditation for spiritual self-realization and the purposeful evolution of consciousness. Raja Yoga is also referred to as the “Mental Yoga”, or the Yoga of the Mind, because of its emphasis on awareness of one’s state of mind. It is through this practice of concentration that one learns to calm the mind and bring it to one point of focus. It is at this point that we direct our attention inwardly, toward our true nature, which is Divine. Truly, the benefits of practicing yoga are numerous and lifelong.
Hatha Yoga was developed as a preparation for Raja Yoga and can be practised together. Hatha aims to control the body and breath to still the prana (energy), that in turn stills the mind.
Joining the teachings of an Ordained Zen Master with an Internationally Qualified Yoga & Meditation Instructor, the experiences here compliment each other beautifully. Master Fushin Daijo Yin Chao and Rose Allan are passionate about their ways of life, practicing compassion and love for all living things. Time spent with them will teach and change you in more ways than you could ever hope for.
From the minute you arrive, you will sense the serenity and peaceful energy that surround the grounds. Your hosts will always greet you with a welcoming smile and a genuine appreciation for your presence there. As you walk the property, you feel the contentment and calm of the parkland gardens and the lovely views of unspoiled mother nature.
